Province to Invest $250-Million to Boost Schools Upkeep & Renewal

According to the province, capital funding for school divisions has been increased by $250-million to help boost the economy, while also accelerating important maintenance to existing schools.

The funding will support hundreds of projects in all school divisions across Alberta with the associated work will creating about 3,750 jobs.

Minister of Education Adriana LaGrange explains how the province came up with the $250-million total.

The province says approved projects must align with the requirements of Alberta Education’s Infrastructure Maintenance and Renewal program and fall into a list of categories that includes building envelope, plumbing, heating or ventilation, electrical, structural, site improvements and interior upgrades.
