Mayor MacPhee Asks Residents to Remain in Vegreville When Possible

Vegreville’s Mayor is urging residents to avoid non-essential trips to Edmonton amidst the on-going COVID-19 crises ...

In a conversation with Country 106 on Monday, Mayor Tim MacPhee stressed that non-urgent trips to the city for shopping or socializing could put Vegreville at risk due to the potential to spread the virus from community to community.

MacPhee asks residents to do their shopping in Vegreville.

He credits Alberta’s front-line medical personnel and says, for their sake, its time for everybody to start following the rules.

As of Monday, there were 301 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Alberta – a jump of 42 cases from Sunday’s total.

According to Alberta Health Services, Vegreville has one confirmed case, which dates back to March 11th, while there are 68 cases in the Edmonton Zone.

There are no confirmed cases in Lamont County, Viking, Tofield and Two Hills County.
