Distracted Driving Remains an RCMP Focus

February is Distracted Driving Month and RCMP say it continues to be problem on Alberta’s roads. 

While distracted driving legislation encompasses several types of distractions, including reading a book or personal grooming, Corporal Ray Stack with the Vegreville RCMP detachment says the major culprit is texting and cell phone use in general.

Last year alone Alberta RCMP Officers issued over $9,000 distracted driving tickets. 

The penalty for distracted driving in Alberta is a $287 fine and 3 demerit points
