The St. Mary’s Catholic School’s Class of 2020 is about to embark on a major milestone, even if the coinciding celebrations will be a little different than they expected when the school year began in September ...
Friday is Graduation Day for Grade 12 students at St. Mary’s and Assistance Principle Scott Walker says there’s no denying the grad class is disappointed with the lack of traditional pomp and circumstance that would otherwise come along with their accomplishments.
Walker says once the province announced schools would remain closed for the remainder of the year as part of its COVID-19 mitigation measures, the students’ focus immediately shifted to ‘grad’.
Walker says COVID-19 or not, the school was not about to let the moment go uncelebrated.
He talks about what a portion of this year’s grad ceremonies will look like in the midst of the ‘physical distancing’ era.
In all, twenty-five St. Mary’s Catholic School Graduates will be celebrated on Friday.
