The need for blood continues in Canada, as blood banks are starting to dip lower due to cancellations of appointments and clinics due to the COVID-19 pandemic
Canadian Blood Services is asking for clients and communities to keep their appointments and blood donation clinics open, despite closures of facilities and limits to the amount of people in a gathering.
In Vegreville, next Tuesday's schedule blood donor clinic at the Social Centre will continue as planned. Mayor Tim MacPhee says that precautions will be taken.
According to information at www.blood.ca, only those with appointments are asked to attend, and they will not be accommodating walk-ins. Seating and donation chairs will be spaced further apart, and cleaning of all spaces and pamphlets will be increased. They also remind everyone that it is safe to donate blood during COVID-19, and donations are critical to ensuring that there is a continuing blood supply in Canada.
