Alberta Reports Biggest One Day Jump in Confirmed COVID-19 Cases


Alberta reported 49 new cases of COVID-19 in it's daily update on Friday - it's biggest one day jump to date ...

That brings the total in the province to 195.

Deena Hinshaw, Alberta's chief medical officer of health, says up to 11 cases may have be due to community transmission.

Alberta announced its first death due to the virus on Friday.

Hinshaw says others remain in hospital.

Hinshaw says there is some good news.

Three people sick with COVID-19 have since recovered.

Of the 195 confirmed cases 126 are in the Calgary zone, 43 in the Edmonton Zone, 5 in the South Zone, 17 in the North Zone and now up to 4 here in the Central Zone.

Premier Jason Kenney credits Alberta Health Services for some of the most rigorous testing on the planet.

As of Friday afternoon's update over 20,300 tests had been completed in Alberta.
