Kalyna Country Ecomuseum is dedicated to the preservation of the unique history, natural beauty and culture of east-central Alberta for all those who experience it.

The WHY of Kalyna Country Ecomuseum (KCE)
As an Ecommuseum , we think and act differently, we:
- promote the 300 plus years of living history in the KCE region.
- Promote that Aboriginal nations and newcomers from around the world came to this region to make a new life. Many of our current citizens share a common bond with those “newcomers” from 1-2 hundred years ago.
- To share this knowledge with partners and the traveling public.
- To celebrate the history, culture, arts and geography in our region for the world to experience.
- The way we do it is by making it easy to visit and experience the rich heritage in KCE and working with our regional partners that support our cause.
- KCE happens to be the largest ecomuseum in Canada and the second largest in the world

Sopilka Ukrainian Ensemble Society is a group of enthusiastic teenagers who are preserving Ukrainian Culture through Ukrainian dance.
Started in 1984 Sopilka has a long and deep history as Ambassadors of Vegreville. They have had the opportunity to perform both here and abroad for the likes of Queen Elizabeth, the Olympic Torch Run ceremony, Disney World Main Street, and in more recent history the North Dakota Ukrainian Festival, performance on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Alaska Cruise, and participants in Dauphin Manitoba’s Canadian National Ukrainian Festival. This year finds The Sopilka Ensemble travelling to Hungary and then on to Serbia where they will perform, then on to explore Bosnia and a final jog through Croatia where the group will perform and then participate in a festival.
Sopilka Ensemble not only loves to travel and show case their talents to the near and far, but we are supporters of the Pysanka Festival and have been asked time and again not only to entertain during the day but to also participate on the Grandstand. We love to share our talents – if you would like to contact us in regards to performance opportunities please email sopilkavegreville@gmail.com .
What would the $2500 mean to us? It would help to offset the cost of our instructor travel. We take our instructor with our group as they co-ordinate and run the performances for us. As well any hiccups or considerations that need to be tweaked to make sure that our dancers are safe. In return our instructor brings back to the club new knowledge from any workshops that we attend and skills in managing the group in new and unfamiliar settings which benefits the entire school!
We help families at Christmas time with a food hamper, food gift cards, gifts for children, a membership for all in the family to our public library and a voucher for Pot of Gold. This is a time for family to get together and we try to help make it nice for them.
