Val's 'Canadian Open' Ends Early

Sweeting, along with Third Lori Olson-Johns, Second Dana Ferguson and Lead Rachel Brown, dropped their third consecutive match in Camrose on Thursday – this one a 6-4 loss to the Casey Scheidegger Rink of Lethbridge.

The Canadian Open is a triple knockout event, meaning teams must win three games before they lose three to qualify for playoffs.

In Curling closer to home ... the Vegreville Ladies Curling League was on the sheets at the Heather Curling Club Thursday with the Essery, Kitz, Rubalak and Veldcamp Rinks all picking up wins.

Through 10 weeks of action, the Essery Rink leads the standings with 8 wins and 2 losses.
