Two Steps Forward, One Step Back for Rangers

In Grinch-like fashion, the Cold Lake Ice stormed into on Sunday and took off with a big win over the Vegreville Rangers ...

The Vegreville Rangers took a step back in their hunt for a playoff spot in the Northeastern Alberta Junior Hockey League on Sunday afternoon, falling 9-0 to the Cold Lake Ice.

Vegreville entered the contest having won back-to-back games for the first time this season and only point back of Onion Lake for the league’s final playoff spot.

The Rangers, who now sit at 8-14-1, will try to right the ship with a pair of road games before their Christmas break; on Thursday, Vegreville heads to Saddle Lake for a tilt with the win-less Warriors before visiting Lac La Biche on Friday.

The Rangers don’t return home until the New Year, when they’ll welcome Wainwright on January 5th for their first tilt of 2018.
