Third Time the Charm for Calgary's Carey over Vegreville's Val

Vegreville's Val & Co. fall in Jiffy Lube Alberta Scotties Tournament of Hearts ...

The third time was the charm for Calgary's Chelsea Carey who won the provincial women's curling championship on Sunday.

Carey defeated the 2-time defending Alberta Scotties champion Val Sweeting from Vegreville 8-5 after the two teams shook hands in the 10th end when Carey put 4 rocks in the house and Sweeting only had one left to throw.

The 31 year old Carey, who had lost her two previous match ups versus Sweeting earlier in the week, now advances to represent Alberta at the national championships.

The Scotties Tournament of Hearts will run from February 20th to the 28th in Grand Prairie.
