Playing on new team and at a new position hasn’t seemed to slow down Vegreville’s Val ...

Val Sweeting is off to a solid start at a new position and on a new team.

Sweeting, who now plays Third for Gimli, Manitoba’s Kerri Einarson, picked up some hardware over the weekend with her new squad – winning the World Curling Tour’s Stu Sells Oakville Tankard in Oakville, Ontario.

Team Einarson underwent a total overhaul this spring and, along with Einarson and Sweeting, is comprised entirely of former Skips including Shannon Birchard at Second and Briane Meilleur at Lead.

Sweeting says with now two events under their belts, the newly forged team is starting to come together.

Sweeting talks about her transition from Skip to Third.

Up next for Sweeting’s new squad is a berth-spiel in Morris, Manitoba next weekend, the winner of which will earn a spot in the Manitoba Provincial Playdowns.
