Vegreville’s Val Sweeting and the Team Einarson Rink are set to compete for their share of the $140,000 purse up for grabs at the 2018 Home Hardware Canada Cup.

The event - which features 16 Teams in Total; 8 Men’s and 8 Women’s – gets underway Wednesday in Estevan, Saskatchewan.

Sweeting, who now plays Third for Gimli, Manitoba’s Kerrie Einarson, won this event as a Skip back in 2014 in Camrose.

The rest of Team Einarson is comprised of Einarson at Skip, Shannon Birchard at Second and Briane Meilleur at Lead.

Team Einarson will play a pair of contests in Estevan on Wednesday, first an afternoon tilt versus Ottawa’s Rachel Homan and then an evening matchup against Winnipeg’s Alli Flaxey.

On the Men’s Side Sherwood Park’s Brendan Bottcher will make his first Canada Cup appearance.

He takes on the Epping and Carruthers rinks in Wednesday's action.
