Vegreville’s Val Sweeting and her Team Einarson-mates are Scotties Champs once again.
Sweeting, Einarson and company beat Ontario’s Rachel Homan 9-7 in the final on Sunday for back-to-back National Women’s Curling crowns.
This year’s Scotties was held without spectators in Calgary to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 but Sweeting says that didn’t put a damper on the feeling of repeating.
Sweeting was named a 1st Team All-Star for her work at Third at the tournament.
All Stars were determined based on a combination of shooting percentages and media vote.
Meantime, Sweeting’s Skip Kerri Einarson – who’s from Gimli, Manitoba – was also named a 1st Team All-Star.
She talks about the feeling that comes along with repeating.
Einarson, Sweeting and the Team Canada Crew are the first rink to win back-to-back Canadian titles since Homan did it in 2013 and 2014.
