Sweeting and partner Brad Gushue fell to the Chelsea Carey/Colin Hodgson Rink 6-4 to open the event on Tuesday and then dropped to oh-and-two after losing to familiar foe in their afternoon match-up, dropping a 7-6 decision to Edmonton’s Dana Ferguson and Sherwood Park’s Brendan Bottcher.
Ferguson typically plays Second for Team Sweeting.
Sweeting and Gushue picked up a much needed win early Wednesday, a 10-8 victory over the now 1-and-3 John Epping and Sherry Middaugh rink.
The pair are back to work on Wednesday afternoon and will be looking to even their record at 2-2 when they take on the 2-1 Lawes/Morris Rink before an evening match-up with the Kasner/Kalthoff Rink.
The Champion Rink at this event will have the honor of representing Canada at the Olympics in Pyeongchang next month as mixed doubles has been added to the program for the first time ever.
