The Vegreville Rec. Center Arena played host to one of Alberta’s few Female ‘Junior Hockey’ Officials over the weekend ...

Edmonton’s Cassandra Gregory was part of the Officiating Crew for the Northeastern Alberta Junior Hockey League's Vegreville Rangers versus Cold Lake Ice contest on Friday, February 7th.

Gregory says, that as far as she’s aware, she’s part of a small group of women officiating Junior Hockey in the area.

A shortage of Senior Hockey Officials is seemingly always a concern for communities across Alberta and Gregory says she hopes she can inspire other girls to become officials.

Gregory says becoming an on-ice Official has certainly come along with a wide-range of opportunities.

Gregory says while she’s had the opportunity to officiate national tournaments across Canada, her ultimate goal is to one day work the Olympics.
