Rangers Drive for Post-Season Stalls Short

The Vegreville Rangers’ push for the playoffs has officially come up short ...

The Rangers fell 12-6 to the Lac La Biche Clippers at the Veg. Rec. Center Arena on Sunday and with the loss can now no longer catch the Vermilion Tigers for the N.E.A.J.H.L.’s final playoff spot.

Rangers Captain Jared Steinbach, who’s in his final year of Junior Hockey eligibility, says it’s a tough pill to swallow.

Steinbach, who will most likely finish in the league’s top ten in scoring, says he accomplished most of his goals.

Steinbach scored a goal and an assist in Sunday's loss, bringing his season totals to 27 goals and 52 points – good for 8th in the N.E.A.J.H.L.’s scoring race.

The Rangers will wrap up their season on the road this week; first against the Killam Wheat Kings on Wednesday followed by a tilt with the Tigers in Vermilion on Saturday.

This will mark the second consecutive year the Rangers have failed to make the playoffs.
