Locals Bring Home Alberta Winter Games Hardware

Vegreville and Lamont were well represented on the podium at the 2016 Alberta Winter Games ...

The 2016 Alberta Winter Games came to a close in Medicine Hat Tuesday with Zone 7 or the North Eastern Alberta Zone finishing with a total of 29 Medals.

Notable local highlights included Vegreville’s Alana Benoit and Jade Lakusta who each took home Bronze medals in Female Archery.  Benoit in the ‘15 to 17 Cadet Recurve’ category and Lukusta in the ‘12 to 14 Cub Compound’ category.

Meantime Jake Taylor of Lamont won Gold in the Men’s Individual Biathlon.

Zone Three – or Calgary Zone – won the event with a total of 112 medals, 40 of those were gold.
