Vegreville was well represented at the Alberta Winter Games this past weekend.

16 year old Jade Lakusta brought home a pair of Archery Medals from the province-wide competition which took place in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo from February 16th to 19th.

Lakusta talks about her weekend results.

Lakusta, who has trained with the Vegreville Wildlife Federation’s Archery Club for the last six years, says she has no plans on settling down.

She talks about those who have helped her achieve success on the provincial stage.

Lakusta wasn’t the only regional athlete to take part in the Alberta Winter Games as Vegreville’s Alysha Melenka took part in Female Volleyball while Emerson Jarvis of Mundare competed in Female Hockey, winning a silver medal in the process.

In all, Zone 7 or the Northeastern Alberta Zone, finished with 7 gold medals, 10 silver and 11 bronze.
