Football Once Again an Option for Vegreville High School Students

After a year without it, students at Vegreville Composite High School now have a football program to call their own ...

Football is officially back at the Vegreville Composite High School.

The V.C.H.S. Cougars will play their '6-Man Football League' Season Opener on Thursday afternoon in Vermilion versus the Marauders.

Cougars Head Coach Glenn Brophy says aside from the number of players on the field, there aren’t many differences between '6-Man' and '12-Man' Football.

He adds that '6-Man' offers rural communities the opportunity to continue to play the sport.

Brophy says that after a few pre-season jamboree games, his team is ready to get things going for real.

Brophy notes however that due to field availability all of the V.C.H.S. Cougars' contests will be played on the road this season adding that it’s not too late for Grade 9-12 students in the community to take part this season.

He encourages anyone who may be interested to get in touch with the school.
