Back To Back CFR Buckles for Lakeland College Alumnus

A former Lakeland College graduate has won back to back steer wrestling championship at the Canadian Finals Rodeo ...

Just like he did in 2018, Scott Guenthner from Provost started slow but finished strong in Red Deer.

Guenthner was 12th in the opening round at C.F.R. 46 and then 5th in each of the next 2 rounds.

However, he turned it up on the weekend to place 1st, tied for 2nd and 4th.

That moved him into 4th in the aggregate and pushed his total season earnings up over $55,000 dollars.

Stephen Culling from Fort St. John, B.C. finished 2nd with more than $51,000.

Guenthner was asked what it is like to win his second straight C.F.R.title.

The 28 year old was asked if he ever thought about winning a Canadian championship while he was a student at Lakeland College earning his Animal Science Technology degree in 2012.

Overall, this was Guenthner's sixth appearance at the Canadian Finals Rodeo.

Meantime, another former Lakeland College Student also fared well at C.F.R. 46 in Red Deer, as Chett Deitz, Class of 2018, was the Canadian Novice Bareback Champion.
