A 'Wonderful Wednesday' for Vegreville's Val at Mixed Qualifier

Val Sweeting and partner Brad Gushue went undefeated on Day #2 at the 2018 Mixed Doubles Curling Trials, breathing new life into their playoff chances ...

After Val Sweeting and her partner Brad Gushue dropped their first two matches at the 2018 Canad Inns Mixed Doubles Curling Trials in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba on Tuesday trouble seemed to be looming but the pair won all three matches yesterday, improving to 3-and-2 at the event.

Sweeting and Gushue now sit 4th in Pool B and look to build off yesterday's momentum with a trio of contests today to wrap up the round robin.

Only the top 8 of the 18 mixed teams will qualify for the playoffs which get underway tomorrow.

The winning rink, which will be crowned on Sunday, will go on to represent Canada at the Olympics in Pyeongchang next month.
