Two Charged in Car Sale Scam Turned Robbery

Vermilion R-C-M-P are investigating after what appeared to be car sale turned into a robbery.

Authorities say they responded to a 9-1-1 report on Wednesday, January 27th during which three men robbed a man at his home after having initially gone there under the pretense of selling a car to the victim.

According to R-C-M-P the three accused arrived at the victim’s home, negotiated the car sale for a period of time before it was revealed that the victim was in fact alone at his rural home – it was at that point two of men assaulted the victim, took his wallet and fled the scene.

The victim suffered only minor injuries while the suspects were apprehended under an hour later in Lloydminster and brought back to Vermilion R-C-M-P.

Two of the men have been charged with Robbery, the third was found not to be involved in the crime.

20-year old Joshawa Ricard and 29-year old Randy Bernard – both from Lloydminster – are set to appear in Vermilion Provincial Court on Monday.
