The Town of Vegreville has released the cost of fighting the closure of the Case Processing Centre
The Town of Vegreville is releasing the numbers when it comes to the cost of fighting the Case Processing Centre closure.
The town has incurred expenses of over $334,000 to date. That money has been spent on starting the Respect Vegreville Campaign, which included hiring Torque Communications to develop an advocacy plan, and sending representatives to Ottawa.
The Town notes that it has benefited rural communities across the nation. The Alberta Association of Municipal Districts and Counties, Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, The Federation of Canadian Municipalities, Alberta Chamber of Commerce, and Canadian Chamber of Commerce have passed resolutions that will require the federal government to consult municipalities and create a business case before major decisions are announced.
