The Town of Vegreville is reminding residents to exercise caution around ice
With the warming conditions and even the potential for double digit temperatures as early as next week, the Town of Vegreville is reminding residents to exercise caution around the Vermilion River, the Elks Pond and the South Reservoir.
Fire Chief Phil Rowe says a lot of variables come along with the warmer temperatures which can make ice that was safe to be on just a few weeks ago a real hazard now.
Rowe says it's especially important for those with young children and pets to keep a close eye on them.
The Town of Vegreville has also asked residents to stay off the Kinsmen Outdoor Rink until fully dry, noting the ice has started to melt and the nets have now been removed.
