Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding "shots fired following a home invasion in the rural Vegreville area" ...
At this time investigators believe there were only two suspects involved and police are no longer looking for a third individual. Mounties say both suspects are in custody and there are no concerns for public safety.
The police would like to thank the general public for the diligence and assistance with this matter.
On Sunday, October 8th at about 4:45am it was reported to RCMP that suspects entered a home armed with weapons before fleeing the scene.
At approximately 5:15am, RCMP officers located the suspect's vehicle in Strathcona County and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The suspect vehicle refused to stop but was disabled using a tire deflation device. The vehicle then rammed two police cars. During the course of this event an RCMP officer dischared their firearm.
Two suspects were taken into custody by officers on scene.
None of the suspects or officers were injured during this occurrence.
The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) was notified and the RCMP will maintain carriage of the investigation.
