It's been just over a year since the surprise announcement from the Federal Government that they planned to move the Case Processing Centre from Vegreville to Edmonton, affecting over 220 jobs.
Mayor Tim MacPhee says in that time, the town has been working with every level of government that will listen.
Documents obtained by Global News this spring show the move will cost $46.6 million in renovations and leasing over a 25-year period while upgrading the existing facility in Vegreville to allow for employment expansion would cost $35.8 million over that same period - a difference of $10.8 million.
The documents contradict one of the reasons for the move given by former Immigration Minister John McCallum who noted the move would save money.
