Vegreville's Mayor is speaking out against a new Provincial Act.
The City Charters Fiscal Framework Act was recently passed to provide predictable funding for infrastructure projects in Alberta's two big cities, Calgary and Edmonton.
Mayor Tim MacPhee is not pleased.
In a release, the province says the framework will provide Calgary and Edmonton with infrastructure funding tied to provincial revenues. The new funding approach will begin in 2022. Concerns have been raised that smaller municipalities will not receive a similar plan that would provide predictability for long-term financial planning.
