It’s ‘Mission Accomplished’ according to the final Alberta Crop Report of October ...
According to the report, thanks to improved weather over the final two weeks of October producers here in the Northeast Region managed to combine 98 per cent of the crops, up 24 per cent from middle of the month.
The report suggests that while most regional producers were forced to dry out their crops due to high moisture levels, the quality for harvested crops in the Northeast is above the provincial 5-year averages for barley number one and the top two grades of spring wheat, canola and dry peas.
Malt and oats quality however is below the 5-year average.
Elsewhere around the province, harvest in the South and Central Regions has been complete for weeks while in the Northwest sits a 97 per cent complete and the Peace Region at 95 per cent complete.
