Unofficially, residents in the Town of Vegreville have a new Mayor ...

In what was one of the closest Municipal Election races around the region, former Town Councilor Tim MacPhee edged out incumbent Myron Hayduk by only 41 votes, 990 to 949.

MacPhee calls the win humbling.

He notes, given the upcoming challenges facing the Town of Vegreville, the next four years will require a team work mentality.

MacPhee thanks the community for their support.

In terms of the Vegreville’s Council, both new and familiar faces will be seated around the table when the new regime is officially sworn in on Monday, October 23rd.

Incumbents David Berry, Marielle Brodziak and Teneen Rudyk will be joined by new councilors Tina Warawa, Ann Waters and Jerrold Lemko.

In total, 1958 of the 4445 eligible voters within the Town of Vegreville made their ways to the polls, a voter turnout of 44% … down from 2013’s 44.5% turnout.
