The federal and provincial governments have announced funding of more than 16.3 million dollars for four water and wastewater projects in the province.

Vermilion, St. Paul, and Barrhead will get funding to upgrade wastewater treatment plants that will increase capacity and ensure cleaner water is released back into the environment. Meanwhile, in the hamlet of Beaver Mines, a new water reservoir will be constructed to ensure an emergency supply of clean drinking water.

The funding is part of an agreement between Canada and Alberta for the Clean Water and Wastewater Fund.
