The Vegreville Food Bank is still looking for donations after the holidays
Food banks are becoming more important than ever, and seeing increased usage across the country. Nationally, there was a 23% increase in use, while there was a 32% increase in Vegreville alone.
Alicja Gruntowicz, Coordinator with the Vegreville Food Bank, says it's difficult to pinpoint one exact reason for the increase in use, but notes that it has been a hard year on the economy.
Gruntowicz adds that the food bank is coming upon a difficult time of the year; after the holidays, where donating becomes less of a priority.
Those looking to donate or utilize the Vegreville food bank can do so by stopping in at the Maple Street Worship Centre between 10 and noon on Tuesdays and Fridays.
