The Vegreville Fire Department is sending out the reminder to leave sprinkler heads in buildings alone
On the heels of an incident that occurred at the Pomeroy Hotel in Vegreville, the fire department is sending out the reminder to not tamper with sprinkler heads, as they are relatively fragile and can cause a lot of damage when accidentally activated.
Fire Chief Phil Rowe says that the consequences with tampering with the sprinkler heads can be severe.
Rowe adds that he's heard it's a surprisingly common occurrence, noting that he's heard of at least 30 cases of accidentally tampering with the sprinkler heads. Most involve either hockey players hanging jerseys off the sprinklers, or brides hanging wedding dresses.
