Family Literacy Day will be celebrated across Canada on Wednesday, and C.A.L.S. and the Vegreville Centennial Library are celebrating together
Family Literacy Day is fast approaching, being celebrated across Canada on Wednesday.
The Community Association for Lasting Success, or C.A.L.S, along with the Vegreville Centennial Library, are inviting families with children up to 6 years of age to celebrate the day from 10 to noon at the library gymnasium, where there will be games, crafts, activities, and prizes.
Early Education Head-start Coordinator at the community association for lasting success, Tammy Iftody, says that it's important to read to children out loud, as it helps them develop listening skills, vocabulary, language skills, imagination and creativity.
This year's theme is 15 Minutes of Fun, and encourages families to take 15 minutes to enjoy a learning activity together.
