EIPS Says Funding a Continued Challenge

Elk Island Public School division says there is a long-standing lack of stable, predictable, adequate and flexible funding allocated for education

Elk Island Public School division says there is a long-standing lack of stable, predictable, adequate and flexible funding allocated for education.

They say it makes it difficult for school boards to make long-term strategic plans when other funding streams vary from year to year, or are unexpectedly discontinued.

Chair of Elk Island Public Schools, Trina Boymook, says they want to work closely with the provincial government, no matter the outcome of tomorrow's election.

Boymook adds that school boards across the province have had to dig into their reserves, and the cost is passed along to the schools.
