Elk Island Catholic School Division will be expanding what costs it covers for parents and students
The Government of Alberta recently implemented Bill 1, which will see the elimination of basic education fees.
Elk Island Catholic School division will be receiving $474,000 as a result of the Bill 1 funding, but had already eliminated it's transportation and basic education fees for the current school year.
Secretary Treasurer with Elk Island Catholic Schools, Ryan Stierman, says that with the funding, parents will no longer be required to supply their child with basic school supplies.
Stierman notes the fees that will not be covered include those such as field trip and sports team costs, or enhanced education services.
