Community Comes Together for Canadian Food Grains Bank Growing Project

Members of the local Agricultural Community will come together for the benefit of others today ...

Terry James, Chairman of the Vegreville Food Grains Growing Project, says for the past several months local producers have been volunteering time and resources to work a parcel of land, adding that this afternoon they’ll all be back at it for harvest.

James says when harvest is complete, they’ll be donating the yields.

James says the project not only requires the volunteer hours of many local producers but notes Vegreville’s implement dealers have also offered to lend a hand.

James says the parcel of land is located straight west of Vegreville on Township Road 524 just across the Yellowhead Highway and encourages anyone interested to come out and cheer on the harvest or take in some of the new equipment being showcased.

Harvest is expected to get underway at 1pm (October 24th).
