Charges Pending after St. Paul RCMP Deal with Firearm Incident

Police asked the public to stay away from the intersection of Highway 881 and Highway 29 last night due to a firearm complaint

A few answers to questions this morning, after police in St. Paul asked everyone to steer clear of the intersection of Highway 881 and Highway 29 coming in to St. Paul yesterday afternoon.

Police now say that at approximately 4:45 pm Monday, Mounties responded to a call for assistance as a Bailiff who had attended a residence to retrieve a vehicle was confronted with an armed male.

A gun shot was heard, and the Edmonton Emergency Response Team, Crisis Negotiation, EDU, PDS, Air Services were called in and assisted St Paul RCMP members to resolve the issue peacefully at around midnight.

A lone male was taken into custody without incident. Nobody was injured. and charges are pending. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
