Agri-Trade Tweaks Next Year's Schedule

Extensive exhibitor feedback has resulted in a change of dates for the next couple years at the Agri-Trade Equipment Exposition ...

It will be one day shorter in 2018 and 2019.

For more than 30 years, the show has taken place the second week in November in Red Deer and traditionally it has been from Wednesday through Saturday.

However, this year it will run as a three day event from Wednesday, November 7th until Friday, November 9th. In 2019, Agri-Trade will also be just three days starting November 6th and continuing through November 8th.

Current Show Manager for Agri-Trade, David Fiddler, says most ag equipment shows have reduced the number of show days.

Show management conducted a written survey of all exhibitors and also conducted one-on-one interviews with a cross section of exhibitors as well as sponsors and show attendees.

Fiddler adds the survey results identified 71% of their exhibitors were in favour of shortening the show by one day.

He notes exhibitors are evaluating the return on investment (ROI) of shows very closely with the increasing cost of manpower, travel and shipping equipment.

The partnership of Agri-Trade began in 1984 and has continued to this day. It is a joint venture of the Red Deer and District Chamber of Commerce and Westerner Park.

The Agri-Trade Equipment Expo attracts annually over 28,000 qualified agricultural buyers and over 475 farm manufacturers to Red Deer to participate in what is considered the best ag equipment buying show in Canada.

It generates an estimated $150,000,000 annually in equipment sales and tourism spending.
